Does your customer know what brake testing involves? Does he or she understand it?
It’s easy to forget, with the focus on the car, that there is actually a PERSON who owns it. We can offer so many different options to our service customers – things to make the car safer, faster, louder, more efficient, and so on – that we forget we are providing a SERVICE to a PERSON. Sharing information with your service customer is very important. It’s not just about the car.
The SafeTstop team goes to Tamworth
Recently, SafeTstop visited Tamworth, to demonstrate to the public what a brake test is all about. There are a number of SafeTstop workshops in Tamworth, and the week was all about sharing the SafeTstop service and accuracy with the public. Drivers don’t always understand their cars, and what happens at a service – or why!
Free testing was offered at workshops where there was a SafeTstop, and drivers were invited to bring their cars for a pre-holiday test. The radio station broadcast live from one business, there was online advertising, and radio interviews to discuss and explain the difference between a brake “check” and a SafeTstop TEST.
Drivers were thrilled to see their own car tested on the SafeTstop, and one gentleman thought it would be reasonable to pay $120 for the test (most workshops charge around $29.95). When the test report was discussed with drivers, they were excited to see how their car performed and what the test showed them.
- One lady said nobody had ever explained what brake balance is, and she was taking the test report home to show her teenage kids.
- One couple were planning to take their car on a long trip and were very happy to find their brakes worked perfectly on every wheel, and also that their tyres were tracking very straight, so they were getting the best possible wear from their tyres.
Drivers were very keen to watch the test and to understand the results.
Understanding braking is as important for the driver as it is for the auto repair industry. At SafeTstop, we are happy to help. Educating the public is just part of making our roads safer.
